Andrew McEachin is a researcher, educator, and parent committed to making education more equitable and effective. As the Senior Research Director of Policy Research at ETS, he leads a team dedicated to using data-driven insights to inform education policies that impact millions of students. His work has been featured in national media, cited in major policy discussions, and used by school districts, state education agencies, and federal organizations to drive meaningful change.
Before joining ETS, he held leadership roles at NWEA, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and senior research roles at the RAND Corporation, where he developed research initiatives on student learning opportunities, pandemic recovery, and the role of school policies in shaping educational outcomes. His expertise spans educational inequality, math education policy, school choice, and discipline disparities, with a focus on ensuring that policies work for all students, particularly those historically underserved.
He started his career as a special education teacher in Los Angeles, where he saw firsthand the challenges educators and students face daily. This experience fueled his passion for bridging the gap between research and practice. He holds a Ph.D. in Education Policy and an M.A. in Economics from the University of Southern California, as well as an A.B. in History from Cornell University.
Beyond research, he actively mentors emerging scholars, contributes to national policy conversations, and serves on editorial boards for leading education journals.
